CARAMALIZED MANCHURIAN SAUCE

Writer's picture: thearistoboxthearistobox

Caramalizing onions with honey. Onions are naturally sweet and as caramel comes from the simple cooking of sugar, I just added some honey to get some tanginess with the spice of the sauce.

Hope you like it :)

Ingredients:

1 tomato

1 onion

1 tsp lasan chutney

6 cloves garlic

1-1/2 tbsp soya sauce

1-1/2 spoon honey

Piri piri powder

1tbsp peanut butter

Olive oil

Salt to taste

PROCEDURE:

1. Chop the tomato, onion and garlic into small fine pieces. Before cutting the tomato peel the skin gently with a knife and just cut the fruit.

2. Add olive oil to the sauce pan. Add the chopped garlic and let it turn a bit golden-brown. Then add the finely chopped onions and wait for it to turn a but brown, put 1 tsp of honey and mix nicely. Close the lid and let the onions caramelize on a sim flame.

3. Add the chopped tomatoes and keep stirring while putting pressure over them. Add a little water and close the lid for it to cook.

4. After 5 mins, open the lid and you would see the puree to be thick. Add a little bit of water for consistency and stir well. Add 1tsp of lasan chutney.

5. Let it mix well. Add 2 caps of soya sauce into the puree, 1 tbsp of peanut butter and stir well. Add salt accordingtoo your taste.

6. Close the lid let it cook for 5mins and then in the end add piri piri powder according to the spice you want to add to it according to the spice you prefer.

7. Close the lid again and add water if necessary as it will thicken really soon. Let it cook for 5 mins on a Sim flame.
